Weekly Update 4: T-minus 4 weeks

Welcome!

We know what you’re all thinking, and we’re sorry. We know we missed a week. One of us went on holiday (how dare he), the other got ill so we didn’t manage to write this.

What has happened since we last time, we’ve decided when to launch the button. More to come on that soon. We’ve made nice progress on our design for launch and our development work is very nearly at the minimum viable product stage. We just need one last push to get it finished. We need some work on corporate identity so if you can help, contact us on oabutton@gmail.com.

This week, we put out our Call for Student Leaders. We want students (both undergraduate and postgraduate, from all subjects) from all over the world to join us. The Open Access Button will be international and we want the support network to be truly international too.

We are looking for people to join our team on a voluntary basis, the roles include:

  • Social Media and Publicity Lead
  • Secretary
  • Funding Lead

If you want to apply or know any students interested in getting involved, you can complete this short form. All students, both undergraduate and postgraduate for all disciplines are welcome to apply. Deadline for applications is Monday 30th September at 11.59pm BST. Any questions please email us at oabutton@gmail.com

Some negative news this week though. We applied for a grant from a well know internet service provider way back at the beginning of the project. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful. BUT we have got our start up grant from the Right to Research Coalition.

Last but not least, Jack Andraka followed David on Twitter. It made his week.

Until next week, have a good one!
